The VSWR ( The voltage standing wave ratio ) is a measure of impedance match of load to the transmission line. Return loss is the measure of the magnitude of the reflection coefficient ( negative value ) in dB.

The outer conductor size of these connectors prevents the mating of incompatible connectors. Connectors in each of the shaded areas below have the same size outer conductor and therefore can safely be mated together.

However, damage to connectors occurs from wear, lack of cleaning, improper connection techniques, and poor handling techniques. When mated, a damaged connector can cause another connector to also become damaged. Therefore, clean and inspectall connectors before mating.

The outer thread size of the 1.85 and 2.4 connectors is bigger than SMA, 3.5, and 2.92. This makes the area of the outer conductor mating surface look very large compared to the relatively small air dielectric.

The 1.85 mm connector that is manufactured at Keysight has a groove in the male nut and female shoulder to distinguish these two connector types.

Uses a PTFE dielectric.

Note: SMA connectors are a common and inexpensive type, but their lack of precision affects their durability and performance, and can cause increased wear when mated with other (precision) connectors. SMA connectors are only rated for a very limited number of connection cycles and should be examined before each use.

Racomtech provided indoor (IDU)and outdoor units (ODU) with a cost effective solution for the transmission of RF and Data signals over fiber in extreme conditions. The IDU's is installed in the equipment house, the ODU’s can be pole or wall mounted by the antenna, which eliminates the need for environment-controlled shelters.

The indoor and outdoor units can accommodate any combination of Ortel or Foxcom fiber optic RF links, they are deployed in a variety of military and maritime applications, optimizing antenna location in any environment regardless of distance. The standard commercial IDU & ODU products are chosen as part of the military’s COTS policy and have earned the respect of military.

Racomtech had successfully supplied RF fiber IDU's and ODU's to Australia company - Step Electronics Pty Ltd for over last 3 years.

RFSim99 is a free linear S-parameter based circuit simulator offering schematic capture, simulation, 1 port and 2 port S-parameter display and file support, tolerance analysis, stability circles, and much more. Below is the sample for using RFsim99 to design a RF filter achieved the Combined 144MHz Low-Pass and 432 MHz Notch Filter

Design Steps

1) Add the ports and components to the design screen shown on the picture -1. all components and ports are listed on the left side of deign screen, the first section is the rotating components, wiring connection, and ports, the second left section is the components of the resistor, capacitor , inductor and transmission line as well, the third section includes the models of the transformer, Op- amplifier, 1 port of S-parameters, and 2 ports S-parameters

2) Click the "Simulate" on top left of the screen to start simulate the filter circuit, the simulation results will be plotted on the picture-2

Moving the mark on the bottom of the plot screen to find the -70dB of attenuation on notch frequency 433.5MHz. We can tune the notch frequency with the capacitor of 6.14pf on the simulation screen.

3) Use the components library to make the air cored inductor.

Double click the component of 40H inductor to show the edit screen Fig-3

4) Build your filter
